WOW Community Team
How to get involved
WOW is a nonprofit powered entirely by women who give their time, energy, and heart to our mission. Everything we do β from hosting monthly rides to building community β happens because people choose to get involved. There are many ways to support WOW: serving on the Board, helping as a Lead or Sweep during events, assisting with social media and communications, or pitching in with planning, logistics, and outreach. No matter your role, you become part of the WOW Community Team that keeps our riders supported, confident, and connected.
β
Our Ride Leads and Sweeps go through a WOW-curated training that helps you feel confident and prepared on the trail. We cover the basics of trail etiquette, safety, simple riding techniques, our Emergency Action Plan, and how to communicate clearly with riders. Itβs all designed to support you, build your skills, and help you feel great leading or sweeping a WOW group.
Lead Rider
Ride Leaders help guide the group through the planned route, set a comfortable pace, and make sure everyone stays together. They point out trail conditions, keep an eye out for hazards, and offer encouragement along the way. Most importantly, they help create a fun, safe, confidence-building experience for all riders.
Ride Sweep
Ride Sweeps make sure every rider feels supported from the back of the group. They stay behind the last rider, help anyone who needs assistance, and keep the Leader updated on how the group is doing. Sweeps also handle any issues that come up at the back β from a dropped chain to a quick confidence boost β ensuring no one is ever left behind and everyone has a safe, positive experience on the trail.
Committees
Committees help guide WOWβs mission and keep our nonprofit running smoothly. Women who serve on committees support planning, communication, event coordination, rider experience, and community outreach. Each committee member brings their own strengths β whether itβs organization, creativity, leadership, or trail knowledge β to help WOW create safe, fun, confidence-building experiences for women riders.
Social Media Support
Social Media Support helps WOW stay connected with our community by sharing updates, event info, photos, and stories on Facebook and Instagram. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys creating friendly, engaging posts and helping riders feel informed and inspired.
